The moment for QR codes?

December 11, 2020

If you go out anywhere in Melbourne right you, you're required to 'check-in' as part of the contract tracing efforts. Most places offer a QR code method which is printed on a menu, table card, or poster near the entry.

QR code reading has been baked into the iOS camera for a few years, but few people knew it existed. There have also been few real use cases for it out in the wild. It's been a bit of a chicken and egg problem.

The pandemic has forced adoption of the technology and I wonder what future experiences will be unlocked as a result?
